Spirit Airlines is enhancing its offerings with a new extra-legroom seating option called “Go Comfy” and a revamped Free Spirit loyalty program. Go Comfy seats provide an extra four inches of legroom (32 inches total) and include a carry-on bag, no change/cancel fees, priority boarding, reserved overhead bin space, and a complimentary snack and non-alcoholic beverage. These seats will be installed fleet-wide by 2026, and bookings open May 15, 2025, for travel starting July 9, 2025. The loyalty program upgrade includes expanded redemption options for all travel options using Free Spirit points (excluding taxes and fees), complimentary upgrades to Big Front Seat and Comfy Seat for Status members and credit card holders (based on availability), and two free checked bags for Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard holders (starting later in 2025). A new Free Spirit Debit Card launching this fall will allow points earning on everyday spending, with Group 2 Priority Boarding and a 25% inflight purchase rebate as added perks. Existing benefits for Gold and Silver Status members remain, including free bags and Wi-Fi (subject to availability) for Gold members. This comprehensive upgrade aims to provide exceptional value for travelers and reward loyal customers, differentiating Spirit from competitors potentially reducing benefits. Notably, the rollout of extra-legroom seating involves phasing out blocked middle seats on some aircraft. The enhanced loyalty program aims to increase customer engagement and retention by offering more valuable rewards and perks.
