Amex Business Platinum Card Overhauled: Is it Worth $895?
American Express unveiled a revamped Business Platinum card on September 18, 2025, featuring a significant annual fee increase to $895. While the personal Platinum card changes were partially known, the Business card details, including a leaked welcome bonus, are now available. The welcome offer provides 200,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $20,000 in the first three months, which is considered less competitive than past offers reaching 300,000 points. The card's earning rates include 5x points on fine hotels and resorts booked through Amex Travel, 5x on flights via AmExtravel.com, and 2x on key business purchases (up to $2 million annually) in select categories. A standard 1x point is earned on other purchases. Significant changes lie in the enhanced credits. A $600 annual hotel credit ($300 semi-annually for Fine Hotels & Resorts/The Hotel Collection) is introduced, along with up to $209 for CLEAR Plus, up to $1,150 for Dell purchases, $250 for Adobe, $200 for airline incidentals, $200 for Hilton, $360 for Indeed, and $120 for wireless service. High spenders ($250,000+) receive additional credits. Lounge access includes Centurion Lounges, Amex global lounges, Delta Sky Clubs, Priority Pass Select, and Airspace lounges. New elite statuses include Leaders Club Sterling for Leading Hotels of the World, Marriott Gold, and Hilton Gold. The card offers a choice of regular or mirror finish. While the $600 FHR credit and enhanced credits are noteworthy additions, the increased annual fee and less competitive welcome bonus raise questions about the card's overall value proposition for cardholders.
