British Airways Expands US Network with St. Louis Route
British Airways has announced its 27th US route, a new long-haul service to St. Louis, Missouri, commencing April 19, 2026. Potential risks and limitations include the service initially being scheduled only for the summer season until October 2026, with an extension dependent on sustained demand. The ban on overflying Russia also restricts BA's eastward expansion, pushing focus to US routes. For Avios redemptions, while seats are widely available, the costs are considered “toppy.” For example, off-peak return flights are 60,000 Avios + £150 in Economy, 95,000 Avios + £355 in Premium Economy, and 180,000 Avios + £475 in Business Class. These prices are comparable to longer routes like San Francisco or Cape Town, despite St. Louis being a shorter 8-9 hour flight. Bookings are open for flights between April 19 and September 20, 2026, offering 14 guaranteed Avios seats per flight.
