Heathrow T4 Plaza Premium: A UK Lounge Benchmark
The article reviews the newly relocated Plaza Premium lounge at London Heathrow’s Terminal 4, which opened in October 2024. This contract lounge, distinct from the existing Blush Lounge, occupies a refurbished 766 sq m space, previously the SkyTeam lounge, accommodating 147 guests. Its design draws inspiration from the London Underground, featuring banquette patterns, artificial fern walls, and single-occupancy pods for solo travellers, alongside plentiful charging ports. The lounge is conveniently located opposite gates 10A and 10B.
A significant benefit is its early opening at 5 am, closing at 10 pm daily, which is ideal for early morning departures. Access is flexible, welcoming Priority Pass and DragonPass holders, American Express Platinum and Gold cardholders, as well as walk-in and online bookings (a 2-hour slot costs £47.52). Numerous airlines, including Air France, KLM, and Kenya Airways, also direct their premium customers here.
However, a notable risk is that Priority Pass and DragonPass customers might struggle to gain entry due to the high volume of airline-referred premium passengers, suggesting potential capacity limitations. While the lounge boasts a fresh look, the bathrooms were noted as not being new or recently renovated.
The lounge's standout feature is its surprisingly robust food offering, particularly for breakfast, which includes a comprehensive full English selection (e.g., scrambled eggs, bacon, halal sausages, hash browns), a variety of pastries, and a salad bar. This food quality is highlighted as superior to other UK Plaza Premium lounges and even some airline-specific ones, positioning it as potentially the best Plaza Premium lounge in the UK. Drinks include two coffee machines, wines, beer, and basic spirits.
