Key advantages include a generous sign-up bonus of up to 30,000 Bonvoy points, effectively offsetting the first-year fee. Cardholders also receive instant Marriott Bonvoy status (Silver or Gold) and benefit from very low foreign exchange rates on international spending. The premium card specifically offers an annual free night voucher upon reaching a spend target. Additionally, both cards contribute to status progression through Elite Night Credits (ENCs). The Premium Debit Card provides 15 ENCs upon application and another 15 each January.

A crucial clarification concerns the additional spend-linked ENCs. While initially thought to be earned per card year, it has been confirmed that up to five extra Elite Night Credits can be earned per calendar year (one for every £4,000 spent). This means any spending before December 31st, 2025, contributes to that year's maximum of five ENCs, presenting a “use it or lose it” opportunity for those chasing Lifetime Status. Spending for 2026's allocation will reset with the new calendar year. There's still uncertainty regarding whether accumulated spend towards the next ENC (e.g., £3,999) carries over into the new year, though Currensea tentatively assumes it does.

Finally, a previous technical issue preventing some users with other Currensea apps (like Hilton's debit card) from activating their Marriott Bonvoy card has been resolved. The problem, caused by multiple Currensea apps on one smartphone, no longer exists, and affected users are encouraged to try activating their cards again. As a workaround, deleting other Currensea apps temporarily also fixes the issue.
