BA Expands European Network with New Tivat & Guernsey Routes
British Airways has announced the introduction of two new European routes for Summer 2026, offering attractive travel options with potentially good Avios availability. These new services will connect London Heathrow to Tivat in Montenegro and Guernsey.
The new Tivat route, commencing on May 14th, will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This Heathrow-based service provides a direct and convenient entry point to Montenegro, addressing past travel challenges such as slow border crossings from Dubrovnik, which had been a route for reaching destinations like the luxurious One&Only Portonovi. The article highlights other notable accommodations in the region, including the impressive Regent Porto Montenegro, a top option for IHG One Rewards members, and the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort, reviewed by Rhys in 2024, both conveniently located near Tivat airport. The choice of Heathrow for this route is noted as somewhat surprising.
For Guernsey, British Airways will launch a daily service from Heathrow starting April 19th. Flights will depart Heathrow at 11:55, landing at 12:55, with an immediate turnaround. This new offering complements Guernsey's existing air links, which are currently served by Aurigny from London Gatwick and London City. A potential challenge or consideration for BA is the need for permission from the States of Guernsey, given their past actions of blocking other airlines, such as Loganair's proposed routes to Jersey and Southampton. This policy aims to maintain a “strong” Aurigny for consistent, year-round services, suggesting BA's entry might have navigated regulatory hurdles. Both new routes are immediately available for booking via ba.com, using either cash or Avios.
