Chase Sapphire Reserve Revamped: $795 Fee, Big New Perks?

The Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card is getting a major overhaul on June 21st, 2025. The annual fee is jumping from $550 to $795, and authorized users will now cost $195 annually (up from $75). However, Chase is also adding a plethora of new benefits to justify the increased cost. These include a $500 annual hotel booking credit ($250 semi-annually), a $300 annual dining credit via Sapphire Reserve Tables ($150 semi-annually), a $300 annual StubHub credit ($150 semi-annually), a $300 annual DoorDash credit ($25 monthly), a $120 annual DoorDash membership, $250 towards Apple services, and $120 in Lyft and Peloton credits. Existing benefits like the $300 travel credit and TSA PreCheck/Global Entry credit remain. Additionally, a new points boost program promises a 2 cent per point redemption value through promotions. After spending $75,000, cardholders receive a $500 Southwest credit, A-List status, IHG Diamond Elite status, and a $250 credit at “The Shops at Chase.” The earning structure is also changing, with 8x points on Chase travel bookings, 4x on direct hotel and flight bookings, 3x on dining, and 1x on other travel. The 1.5 cents per point redemption is reportedly going away for points earned after a cutoff date later in 2025, reverting to a base of 1 cent per point unless a promotion is active. Points earned before the cutoff will retain the 1.5 cpp redemption value until 2027. A new Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card is also launching simultaneously. Consumers face a decision: apply now for the lower fee and smaller bonus, or wait for the revamped card and hope for a better signup bonus, despite the higher annual fee. Alternatively, they could opt for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card's higher signup bonus and upgrade later. The significant increase in the annual fee makes this a high-value card only for those who can fully maximize the new benefits.
