Chase Shops: Cardmember-Exclusive Online Shopping
Chase launched “The Shops at Chase,” an online platform offering cardmembers exclusive shopping experiences. Cardholders can utilize Ultimate Rewards points, their Chase card, or a combination of both to purchase from various brands including Ray-Ban, Tory Burch, Breitling, and more. This initiative expands on the existing Apple Ultimate Rewards store. While the new platform was initially touted as a benefit for the revamped Chase Sapphire Reserve card (with a $250 credit after $75,000 spend), pricing comparisons reveal potential drawbacks. Items like luggage and electronics are often more expensive compared to other retailers like Amazon, suggesting that the value proposition may not always be favorable. Specific examples include a Samsonite suitcase priced higher than on Amazon, and a Sony Bravia TV with a noticeable price difference. Despite these pricing concerns, Chase highlights a curated selection of premium brands across diverse categories such as travel, home, electronics, retail, fitness, etc. Currently featured brands encompass Baccarat, Bang & Olufsen, Breitling, Callaway, and many others. A launch promotion offers a 15% discount on CALPAK, Dyson, Solo Stove, and select Therabody products until July 11th. Access is available through Chase.com and the Chase mobile app under “Benefits & Travel > Shopping > The Shops at Chase.” Eligible cards include Chase Freedom, Sapphire, and Ink cards. However, point redemption appears to offer a value of only 1 cent per point.
