Qatar Airways Elevates Kits, Paris CDG Simplifies Terminals
Qatar Airways is set to significantly upgrade its already premium business class amenity kits, while Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport is implementing a long-awaited, simplified terminal renaming system.
Since 2022, Qatar Airways has partnered with French perfumer Diptyque to offer luxurious amenity kit contents. From 2026, the airline will introduce new, more practical, and aesthetically pleasing bags. These new kits will feature distinct designs for men and women; women's kits will come in brighter red and nude rounded shapes, while men's will be in muted blues and teals with sharper forms. The bags are described as a substantial upgrade, larger, and more suitable for re-purposing. Contents are expected to remain high-value, including Diptyque lip balm, body lotion, face cream, eyemask, socks, and 10ml miniatures of Eau Rose or '34 Boulevard Saint Germain' eau de toilette, the latter retailing at £144 for 100ml. This upgrade enhances the passenger experience and reinforces the airline's luxury offering.
Meanwhile, Paris CDG Airport, notorious for its confusing terminal nomenclature, will simplify its system from March 2027. Currently, the airport uses a perplexing structure, particularly with Terminal 2 subdivided into 2A through 2G, and 2E further split into Halls K, L, and M. The new system will ditch all letters, adopting seven consecutively numbered terminals from 1 to 7. For instance, Terminal 3 will become Terminal 2, Terminal 2A & 2C will become Terminal 3, and Terminal 2E will be renamed Terminal 5. The primary benefit of this change, according to Aeroports de Paris, is to make navigation “perfectly intuitive” for all passengers, especially the over 30% daily connecting passengers. This massive undertaking involves changing over 3,000 panels in terminals, 600 car park signs, and 250 road signs, ensuring the numbering system better reflects the reality of multiple, albeit connected, terminal buildings. While the transition might present initial challenges due to the scale of changes, the long-term benefit of improved passenger flow and reduced confusion is substantial.
